Tobias Hengeveld & Heath Cullen

Melbourne based musicians, Tobias Hengeveld & Heath Cullen performing June 20th from 8pm.  Tickets $15 at the door

Tobias Hengeveld is the principle songwriter of Melbourne-based group The Night Bell. As a singer and guitarist his intricate compositions carry an undeniable emotional charge. Tobias’ songs tell abstract and abject tales of people set in all-too-familiar places.

The music of the Night Bell is an ambling journey through a nocturnal landscape of sweet and often melancholy folds.

A seasoned performer in Melbourne's music venues, Tobias Hengeveld has also performed nationally and in Europe in support of The Night Bell’s 2005 release 'Hazards & Hard Objects'.

Due for release later this year is the second full-length album from this unique and intriguing Victorian act.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Heath Cullen melds his Ry Cooder meets Greg Brown vocal qualities with a dark, McCarthyan lyrical style to evoke the feeling that each of us is only here for a brief moment, and that that moment is incredibly real. Cullen's tales of small town tragedy and dark-end-of-the-street love affairs are a beautiful reminder of our own inescapable mortality.

A dynamic and expressive multi-instrumentalist who gracefully plays both acoustic and electric guitars, banjo and lapsteel, he has also been known to lend his stringwork to other artists, the likes of Lucie Thorne, Chanel Cole, The Miller's Tale, The Night Bell and Jackie Marshall, to name a few.

Heath has been performing nationally for the past 5 years. He is set to release his debut solo EP in the Spring of this year.
