Gallery arc.

High quality exhibitions are hosted every 4 to 6 weeks in the large and elegant Gallery arc which measures 20 x 7 square meters. Each calendar year a mix of OPEN ENTRY and PRIVATE shows are hosted with an emphasis on the contemporary approach to art making. Open Entry group shows are open to artists to exhibit at the minimal cost of $5.50 per artwork. Examples include the annual Women's show in March; Hot Stuff (2006) which showcased work with ‘heat’ as the concept or glass, metal, ceramic works that required heat in their creation. Private Show means the solo artist or group of artists pay gallery rental for the period of their exhibition, and no commission is charged on sales. Open hours with staff attending are 12 till 4pm weekdays and 11 till 3 on Saturdays. Contact the arc office for enquiries and application process.

The Biennial arc Yinnar Drawing Prize

 

The Biennial arc Yinnar Drawing Prize is open to drawings of a traditional, contemporary or innovative nature. Drawings are to be a unique work on paper or other suitable support and will be judged on their graphic qualities. Materials may include those used traditionally such as pencil, ink, charcoal, and contemporary media as an element of the work such as collage and watercolour will also be accepted.

Judging – independent judges for the awarding of prizes: Rodney Forbes, Acting Head of Centre, Gippsland Centre for Art and Design, Monash University Churchill; Claire Watson, Curator, Gippsland Art Gallery, Sale

PRIZES

Major Prize of $2,000 awarded for the best exhibit as decided by the judging panel.

Minor Prize of $500 for highly commended works as decided by the judging panel. These will be announced on Sunday 23 November.

Peoples Choice of $300 sponsored by Morwell Art & Framing, will be awarded from votes cast by gallery visitors over the duration of the exhibition. This prize will be announced on Monday 22 December.

Closing date for entries to The Second Biannual arc Drawing Prize is August 31st.
