ABOUT ARC

Arc Yinnar is located on the traditional land of the Braiakaulung people of the Gunaikurnai Nation. We pay respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

The Art Resource Collective story began in 1982 with regular meetings to form the group; moving into the current premises in Main Street, Yinnar in 1983. The group of artists (including graduates from the Gippsland School of Art, Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education) took the opportunity to make use of and renovate the disused Yinnar Butter Factory.

arc is an artist-run, non-profit organisation whose members are proud of the continued development of the art centre which today houses its administration base, two galleries, a retail space, theatrette called the Switchroom, private studios and public access areas for printmaking, ceramics, metalwork, photography, painting and drawing.

More detail on arc’s history can be found in 'Making Space: Artist Run Initiatives in Victoria', editor Din Heagney, Melbourne: VIA-N – Victorian Initiatives of Artists Network, 2007. ISBN 978-0-9803554-0-6

'Arc at 30 : celebrating 30 years The Art Resource Collective 1982 - 2012', editor & publisher: Sue Pavlovich, Melbourne, 2012. ISBN 9780987367105 (paperback)
